Top 4000 Universities in the World Based on Their Web

When i was blogwalking to Mr. Romi Satria Wahono site, i was interested with his article that talking about rank of world universities based on their website. Then i search the website in this link. I was found that recent survey on july 2008 our universities ( in Indonesia ) was increased their rank! My institution has upgraded their rank and finished at 2844 ( compires with rank on january 2008 ) :) this site is very good to make a competition climate among all universities in the world. With 4 parameters ( visibility, size, rich files, scholar ) all of universities can upgrade their rank with constant changes in those paramaters. The rank of Indonesian Universities and the mark of parameters is showing below :

About the parameters :

Visibility (V). The total number of unique external links received (inlinks) by a site can be only confidently obtained from Yahoo Search, Live Search and Exalead. For each engine, results are log-normalised to 1 for the highest value and then combined to generate the rank.
Size (S). Number of pages recovered from four engines: Google, Yahoo, Live Search and Exalead. For each engine, results are log-normalised to 1 for the highest value. Then for each domain, maximum and minimum results are excluded and every institution is assigned a rank according to the combined sum.
Rich Files (R). After evaluation of their relevance to academic and publication activities and considering the volume of the different file formats, the following were selected: Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Adobe PostScript (.ps), Microsoft Word (.doc) and Microsoft Powerpoint (.ppt). These data were extracted using Google and merging the results for each filetype after log-normalising in the same way as described before.
Scholar (Sc). Google Scholar provides the number of papers and citations for each academic domain. These results from the Scholar database represent papers, reports and other academic items. ( taken from offical site )

We must proud because our universities are imply in top 4000 universities in the world. Go Higher Education in Indonesia!

Task 2 for Statistic 2008-2009

2.58

An automobile manufacturer is concerned about a possible recall of its best – selling four door sedan. If there were a call, there is 0,25 probability that a defect is in the brake system. 0,18 in the transmission, o,17 in the fuel system, and 0,40 in some other area.

What is the probability that the defect the breaks or the fueling system if the probability of defects in both system simultaneously is 0,15?

2.70

Factory workers are constantly encouraged to practice zero tolerance when it comes to accidents in factories. Accidents can occur because the working environment or conditions themselves are unsafe. On the otherhand, accident can occur due to carelessness or so called, human error. In addition, the workers shift 07.00 AM – 03.00 PM ( day shift ), 03.00 PM – 11.00 PM ( evening shift ) and 11.00 PM – 07.00 AM ( graveyard time ) may be a factor. During the last year, 300 accidents have occured. The percentages of the accidents for the condition combinations are follows :

Shift
Unsafe Conditions
Human Error
Day
5%
52%
Evening
6%
25%
Graveyard
2%
30%

If an accident report is select randomly from the 300 report

  • what is the probability that the accident occured due to human error?
  • what is the probability that the accident occured due to unsafe condition?

2.88

The probability that the head of a household is home when a telemarketing representative calls is 0,4. Given that the head of the house is home, the probability that the head of the house is home and goods being bought from the company

Jagged Array on JAVA ( My Perspective )

The advantages of using jagged array is you can save your computer memory, because this jagged array usually used for optimisation slots of array. confuse? i hope not, let me show you some example about jagged array usage.

if we want to use an array 2 D to save this set of number

5 2 0 5 1 0 0 on the first row

0 7 2 on the second row

if we are declare and initialize int a [2] [7] we will have 4 empty array that we dont use it… agree with me?

so the wise code to optimisation of array usage slots is like this one :

 public class nrp_andre_keren {

                     public static void main(String[] args) {

                               int[][] NRP = { { 5, 2, 0, 5, 1, 0, 0 }, { 0, 7, 2 }};

                               for (int i = 0; i < NRP.length; i++) {

                                        for (int j = 0; j < NRP[i].length; j++) {

                                         System.out.print(NRP[i][j] + " ");

                                                           }                                  System.out.println(" ");

                                       }

                    }

            }

that is a simple example… for the advance, you can send an e-mail to me and we can discuss it…

Google Code Search… Fastest Search for Source Code

This link i get from my lecture Miss. Nur Aini Rakhmawati when she was explained the chapter of proprietary ( one of the chapter of “teknologi open source” subject ), after she “declare” this link, i am interested to try this feature that powered by google. Nice feature i recommended to you when you want to search the related of source code…  quick search for public source code… go ahead try this feature!

click one the picture to go to the engine

interface of google code search

you can direct type your source code name without add “*” or “+” because this search engine will be directing search from your typed key words to the related source code.

Take part in the Campaign Week 17 – 24 October 2008

To ensure financing for development and MDGs…
To eradicate poverty…
To abolish usurious debt…
                                                         … Reform international institutions

               …implement the CTT. The time is ripe”
Dear friend,
We are writing to thank you for your interest and for supporting the World Campaign for in-depth Reform of the System of International Institutions, and also to urge you to take part, like last year, in the project the Campaign Week, aimed at achieving a significant surge in the number of supporting individuals..

As you know, this Campaign is a middle and long term challenge and sometimes the efforts and messages can be blurred. For this reason we think that it is important to give a special intensity to the Campaign on a specific days in which all the organisations involved can work together to increase the number of supporters.

The proposal: each person collects 5 signatures for the Campaign Our proposal is for you to collect 5 signatures from individuals in support of the Campaign, over the period from 17 to 24 October.

You would have noticed that the slogan of the Week has changed slightly. The reason is because this year the Campaign has focused on the follow-up of the preparatory process for the Review Conference of the Monterrey Consensus on Financing for Development that will be held in Doha (Qatar) next December.
